It's A Dog's World!

It's A Dog's World!

Just a Little Bit About Us!

Hi, I am new to the site so I feel compelled to start new; or from the beginning. My husband, Carmen, and I adopted a bully named Rocky in April 09 (of course from Heaven Scent). We were avid Boxer owners and a bully was a whole new area we really were not familiar with. But, after doing what I thought was a great job of investigating the breed, we adopted him. Michelle was great at handling everything. She brought Rocky to us along with his previous foster family and we had a nice visit. Later on the adoption was finalized and we were the proud owners of our new bully. At first I was intimidated by the way he wanted to do just about everything! He ate like a rabid dog...argrgggg and the bowl was empty except for the rim of slime he left behind! He enjoyed playing with our female Boxer, Dutchess, and she returned the feeling except when he was trying to hump the life out of her! Then she gave him ?!!! you know what! He was friendly to our grandchildren and they loved to play with him only Rocky never gave any of the toys back the same way he got them. The kids would scream, "EEEWW! He slobbered all over my doll and chewed the foot off!" They started to call him, MEATBALL because he was a roving mess with mush for brains. Carmen and I began to wonder if we made a fatal mistake. We couldn't leave him and yet we couldn't take him either! He left his mark wherever he went ie. slobber and hair! He tormented Dutchess with his sexual advances and left my car looking like it had a fur rug in it! Did I mention he would attack the windshield wipers everytime we turned them on. Needless to say we were frustrated. Then, he really got us nervous when he would snap at us when we tried to move him while he was sleeping. I mean it was ugly! Many times we came close to calling Michelle and taking him back for maybe a "more knowledgeable family" with better experience handling bullies. Then one day something happened. I don't know why and how it happened but it did. Rocky began to chill out! He was eating nicer, using better table manners, only chewing up his things, letting us love him, wash him, take him places, and he even was better in the car! It was like the Dog Whisperer moved in and revamped our bully! Today, seven months later, I couldn't imagine our lives without our Meatball! He is part of the family and we adore him...slobber and all. Even Dutchess has accepted him into her "world". Until later...its a bulldog world!
